Footmates
In 1928, a pair of brothers founded the Badorf Shoe Company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In 1967 the Gingerich family bought the company, and in 1968 they launched the Footmates brand, specializing in leather shoes for infants and toddlers. In 1977 the company won “designer of the year” for its “Todd” shoe pattern, which remains a bestseller nearly 45 years later. The Footmates factory was featured on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood in 1987. One of the oldest and largest American children’s shoe brands, Footmates makes adorable and classy leather footwear for kids who grow up too fast. From sandals to dress shoes to loafers and more, Footmates shoes feature non-slip soles, proper arch support for growing feet, and roomy toe boxes to allow toes to splay.
